Why some TVs detect Mac and others don’t

Sometimes my TV picks up my Mac in a second, and other days it just pretends nothing is there. I’ve tried rebooting both, switching Wi-Fi, even resetting the TV’s network settings — sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn’t. I can’t figure out if this is just the way Smart TVs behave or if I should switch to something more reliable. Curious if anyone has found a setup that works consistently instead of this “maybe yes, maybe no” routine.

I’ve had exactly the same randomness, especially with older LG and Philips models. AirPlay would pop up instantly one evening, then disappear completely the next morning. I eventually stopped relying on the built-in features and moved to an app that discovers the TV over the network on its own. This one Start streaming turned out to be much steadier for me. It doesn’t care about the TV brand, remembers previous connections, and keeps the link stable even when the Wi-Fi is a bit busy. Since switching, I haven’t had those “TV vanished” moments.
