Player Review

Derek is someone who came out of nowhere and has really begun to impress me. Very quiet but doesn't really need to say much. He does it all with his snapping. Improves every time I see him and has very good zip on the ball for his size. Watch for this one.
Derek continues to improve. Possesses very good strength for his size. The ball really pops when he is on. Needs to really focus on his weight and keeping his eyes through. Very hard worker 2-09
Confidence is really starting to come around with Derek. When he is on, he is REALLY on. Needs to work on having his eyes come through all of the time. Creates a great deal of power with his legs. Telling you when this kid gets his hands and eyes through he is VERY fast. Watch him. 11-09
Incredible use of his legs. Handles pressure extremely well. Very tough and silent. A deadly combo. As he continues to grown AND follow through with his eyes he gets better and better. Very good use of brute force. 1-1

Derek is so darn close to greatness it is unbelievable. Shows tidal waves of brilliance. Really coming along nicely. Ball literally can be in the low .7s and right on target for a vast majority of the time. Needs to focus on EYES THROUGH at all times. He will be as good as he wants to be. Very hard worker. Confidence will help a ton. 5-10

Derek is gaining strength and power. All of which correlates to his snap being VERY fast. Needs to focus on accuracy, but man when he is on...watch out. Almost need to control him a bit. Blocks well. Runs well. Controlling it all means moving way up. CONFIDENCE is going to be key. 6-10

I can't tell you how good Derek is when he is on. Ball is VERY, VERY fast. Needs to focus on following through with his hands and eyes with each and every snap. He is as close as anyone to greatness. Minor adjustments and he is there. 7-10

WINNER OF THE 8th ANNUAL NATIONAL SNAPPING EVENT!!!

Involved in the Boys Charity League of Tustin

2007 and 2008 Year Pre-Varsityplayed Center and Long Snapper both years while training with CSK as a Long Snapper. Sophomore year, both back-up Centers were injured prior to pre-season requiring O'Dell to take every snap (including scout) in every practice and every game on the JV squad showing tremendous heart. Recognized at year end banquet for his dedication to the team.

2009 VarsityO'Dell long snapped for both Varsity and Junior Varsity; recording 98 Snaps for the season. His consistent snaps led to Kicker, Sean Huddleston (also a CSK student) being named all League, all CIF, and Special Teams Player of the Year. O'Dell also won the CSK Fall Nationals in Las Vegas this past January 2010.
